The Bull Dog Inn
- Gone
- Closing date not recorded
- There now
- Not established
- Where exactly
- On English Street. The exact spot isn't known, so the pin marks the street, not the building.
Kept by Joseph Peascod, a butcher as well as an innkeeper, and on the English Street list in the Jollie directory of 1811. Nothing else is recorded under this name: no number, no closing date, no building. Peascod's Lane carries the same surname, and the Bull and Dog, also written the Dog and Bull, stood in it from before 1777 until 1903 or 1904. It may well be the same house.

An unsolved mystery
Was Joseph Peascod's Bull Dog Inn of 1811 the Bull and Dog (or Dog and Bull) in Peascod's Lane, which traded from before 1777 until 1903?
If you know the answer, or where it might be found (an old photograph, a family story, a document), tell us and it goes into the story above.
