Where exactly
Placed on English Street from the position of pubs still standing there. Somewhere on this street, not this doorway

CAMRA records the closure to the day: 22 February 2008. Worth noting where it stood. 77 English Street is the address a study of the street's pubs gives for the Angel Inn, the house recorded from 1634 that burnt down in 1841, was rebuilt, traded for a while as Bewsher's Vaults and was closed by the state in 1916. If the numbering has held, a chain wine lodge spent its years on the site of one of the oldest inns in Carlisle, and both are in this archive.

Before this, the building was the Citadel Tavern, also once known as the City Diner; afterwards, per the site's own pub database, it went on as Annabel's and then Outrageous, Carlisle's LGBTQ+ venue.
