A large all-day cafe bar overlooking the Market Cross, part of the Loungers chain — breakfast to late evening, vegan and gluten-free menus, board games, children's toys, treats for the dog.
It opened on 13 October 2023 on the site of the Angel, and that's the reason it's worth recording rather than dismissing as a chain. An old Carlisle pub site became a national café-bar aimed at families and daytime trade. That swap is most of what has happened to English Street in twenty years, in one building.
