Where exactly: On English Street. The exact spot isn't known, so the pin marks the street, not the building.

On the scheme's 1920 roll of Carlisle pubs under English Street, with no opening date, no closing date, no photograph and no recorded reason for going. It stood among the Lanes, the tight network of alleys and courts behind Scotch Street that was cleared after the war, and its site is under a late twentieth-century shopping centre.

The roll entry is very probably the Crown and Anchor Inn on Crown and Anchor Lane, in the same Lanes, a Carlisle Old Brewery house that the scheme acquired in August 1916 and that closed on 20 June 1927. Historic England's gazetteer of the scheme's houses has only one Crown and Anchor in Carlisle, the one on Crown and Anchor Lane off Scotch Street, acquired and converted in August 1916 and closed in 1927, so the roll's English Street entry is that pub under a looser address, the Lanes lying between the two streets.
