Carlisle is getting a country bar. Coyote Joe's is due to open on Friday 27 November 2026 in the Lowther Arcade, in the unit at 7-10 that was Lux Delisa. The launch announcement promised live dancing, line dancing that customers can join in, American-themed cocktails and live country music, and told the city to dust off its hats and grab its boots.
The unit has a long licensed history behind it. Its premises licence, PL327, was converted in 2005 from a justices' licence under the new Licensing Act, so drink was being sold here before that, and it was transferred to Coyote Joe's Ltd on 22 October 2026. The licence had last changed hands in August 2021, which fits the arrival of Lux Delisa. CAMRA's Solway branch described Lux Delisa as a modern cafe bar and restaurant, part of the Lux bar on Warwick Road that is now Aretha's, serving drink only with food, and gave its former name as the Circle Cafe Bar. Its last food hygiene inspection, in March 2025, was rated very good throughout.
It will have company. Morgan's trades a few doors along, in an arcade of 1904 whose units have held bars for more than twenty years, and the English Street end of the arcade was once the State Management Scheme's Citadel Tavern.

Open question
Is it still open?
Who is behind Coyote Joe's, and what hours will it keep? And was the Circle Cafe Bar at 7-10 Lowther Arcade, the unit that became Lux Delisa, as CAMRA has it, or at 5-6, now Morgan's?
If you know the answer, or where it might be found (an old photograph, a family story, a document), tell us and it goes into the history above.
