An arts and music bar opposite the railway station. Gallery, open mic, board games, coffee in the day and cocktails at night. More community venue than late-night bar, which sets it apart from most of what's near it.
It's bigger than it looks. A 2020 auction catalogue describes four storeys: ground-floor cafe bar, basement beer cellar, first-floor bar and two more floors above, about 1,716 square feet in all, with a 3am licence. The narrow English Street frontage hides the lot. It was significantly refurbished in 2014 and the lease was renewed in 2017, and the 2020 sale was of the building as an investment, with the bar still trading.
Some directories list it as closed. It isn't. It's on the current licensing register and passed a food hygiene inspection in December 2024.
