An arts and music bar opposite the railway station — gallery, open mic, board games, coffee in the day and cocktails at night. More community venue than late-night bar, which sets it apart from most of what's near it.
It's bigger than it looks. A 2020 auction catalogue describes four storeys: ground-floor cafe bar, basement beer cellar, first-floor bar and two more floors above, about 1,716 square feet in all, with a 3am licence. The narrow English Street frontage hides the lot.
It was significantly refurbished in 2014 and the lease was renewed in 2017; the building was sold as an investment in 2020 with the bar still trading.
Some directories list it as closed. It isn't — it's on the current licensing register and passed a food hygiene inspection in December 2024.
