Where exactly
Placed on Rickergate from the position of pubs still standing there. Somewhere on this street, not this doorway

On Rickergate, trading roughly from 1807 to its licence expiring in February 1907, with the building itself demolished around 1929 to make way for the new labour exchange — a separate pub from the Rising Sun at 7 Scotch Street also named in the wider checklist for this site. A 2011 local-history retrospective traces it back to a member of the Gilkerson family, Scotch Street wine merchants also recorded running other Carlisle pubs of the period. A Carlisle Old Brewery pub from 1882.
