31 Scotch Street
Where exactly
Placed on Scotch Street from the position of pubs still standing there. Somewhere on this street, not this doorway

On Scotch Street from 1811 to 1917 -- a full century's trading, ended in the same wave of State Management closures that took most of the street's other pubs. Peter Peascod, born in Carlisle, kept it in 1891; Tom Tweddle, also Carlisle-born, had it by 1901. Not the well-known Bush Hotel, which stands nearby on English Street and is still trading, nor the Bush Vaults on Blackfriars Street, which was a rebuilt and renamed White Horse Inn.
