- From the listed buildings at 20-28 Scotch Street. Somewhere on this street, not this doorway
Distinct from the Globe Inn on Bridge Street, which lasted until 2010. This one did civic duty: early in the nineteenth century, before the city had settled arrangements, Doctors Heysham, Grinsdale and Lowry sat in judgement here while the Mayor held a rival court in the Town Hall. A pub as a magistrates' court, two hundred yards from where the Magistrates' Court stands today.
