Approximate. Placed from Rawlinson's 1850 Board of Health plan, which shows it fronting the west side of Scotch Street just south of the passage into Plume of Feathers Court.

At 45 Scotch Street, trading before 1790. Rawlinson's plan of 1850 for the General Board of Health shows it on the west side of Scotch Street, its rooms upstairs over a row of shops ('Green Dragon Inn above, and Shop underneath'), on the south side of the covered passage into Plume of Feathers Court; Mannix and Whellan's directory of 1847 gives its address as the court itself, and the Plume of Feathers stood behind it. A separate Green Dragon from the notorious one on Newtown Road, and not the third, shorter-lived Green Dragon that traded on Rickergate/Solway Terrace in the 1860s and 70s either.

Jollie's directory of 1811 has one of the city's four men's benefit societies meeting at 'the Green Dragon, (Mrs. Elliott's)', and gives her first name, Margaret; the 1821 New Guide to Carlisle still names it as 'Mrs Elliot's'. Parson and White's directory of 1829 names Thomas Hilton as its keeper. The 1861 census gives Robert Ivison, 36, innkeeper and carrier, as its last recorded landlord, and the Cumberland News's 1933 list of the two streets' licensed houses has Robert Ivinson at the Green Dragon in the 1860s, which fits. It is in the local directories until 1861.
