Placed on Botchergate from the position of pubs still standing there. Somewhere on this street, not this doorway

Trading on Botchergate from around 1778 and called the Stagewagon in 1837. A Carlisle Patriot notice of December 1825 put it up for sale, then occupied by a Mrs Beck. The premises carried on afterwards as spirit stores between 1855 and 1869, past the pub's own closure. A second, unrelated Waggon and Horses on Bridge Street lasted a good deal longer, into the State Management era.
