In the local directories from 1822 to 1914, on Bridge Street. The 1861 census gives James Dinwoodie as innkeeper. Acquired by the State Management Scheme in August 1916 and closed the following year, the building itself survived a further seven years before it was pulled down in 1924 to widen Caldew Bridge. A second, unrelated Waggon and Horses stood on Botchergate, closing decades earlier in the 1850s.
