In the Botchergate directories between 1855 and 1893/94, having traded earlier as the Founders Arms (from at least 1822) and then the Moulders Arms (from 1828). The 1891 census gives Thomas Hilton, aged 30, innkeeper, born Carlisle. Almost certainly the same house as The Albert Hotel, which the Carlisle Encyclopaedia's "B2" page separately dates as closing in 1892 to become the Botchergate Conservative Club -- one spreadsheet source even gives this building's address as 150 Botchergate against the other's 18-20 Botchergate, which reads more like a Victorian renumbering of the same street than two different houses. The two accounts have not been formally reconciled and are kept as separate entries.
