A separate, older pub from the Golden Lion on St Nicholas Street, now trading as Gallagher's. In local directories to 1861. A Carlisle Journal notice of 25 October 1828 advertised it for sale, Mrs Shepherd -- by then deceased -- named as its innkeeper.
