On St Cuthbert's Lane. The exact spot isn't known, so the pin marks the street, not the building.

At 7 St Cuthbert's Lane, trading before 1829 and in the local directories to 1861. A Carlisle Journal notice of 25 October 1828 advertised it for sale, Mrs Shepherd, by then deceased, named as its innkeeper. A separate, older pub from the Golden Lion on St Nicholas Street, now trading as Gallagher's. The Cumberland News of 22 February 1991 lists it with the Shakespeare Tavern, the Wellington and the Woolpack as inns of the lane that all stood on what later became Binns' site, and asked for photographs. It was still licensed in 1864, when its owner, Mr Crowder, asked the bench to renew the licence until he could find a tenant: the last one, Alfred Moore, was in gaol awaiting trial for passing counterfeit coin. The Mayor refused, and his two fellow magistrates granted it.
