Opened Mid-19th century, as the Golden Lion

Built in the mid-nineteenth century as the Golden Lion, and first recorded as a pub in the 1855 directory. Bought by the Burton brewers Worthington's around 1897 for £10,000, then taken into the State Management Scheme.
