Lost pub · St Cuthbert's Lane
The Town Crier
- Gone
- Sold, August 1986, though a further notice has it up for sale again the following year
- There now
- Not established
A wine bar on St Cuthbert's Lane, trading as Korky's from around 1980 before becoming the Town Crier. The Cumberland News put it on the market for £85,000 in August 1986, and the Evening News and Star ran its own notice on 5 May 1987 with it up for sale again -- or still -- the following year. The site's own Mike Tuer pub database records the same rename from both directions -- Korky's becoming the Town Crier, and the Town Crier having been Korky's -- with the same August 1986 sale date each time.
