Where exactly

Irishgate Brow ran down from the castle towards the Caldew and has gone; the pin marks roughly where it was, not the building. The position is approximate.

On Irishgate Brow, trading from about 1840 and in the local directory for 1844. A Carlisle Journal advertisement of 29 January 1858 offers a beerhouse to let under the sign of the Seven Stars in the same part of the city, which may be this house still trading or a second one re-using a popular sign. Another Seven Stars was an earlier name of the Quarter of Mutton on Brown's Lane.
