Carlisle's main small live music venue, and a parish hall before that.
The building went up as St Mary's Parish Rooms, named in honour of Canon Thomas Richmond of the Cathedral, and became known as the Richmond Hall — or the Richmond Memorial Hall. It's well over a century old and has been part of the city's music scene for a long stretch of that.
After a long spell out of use it was renovated and reopened on New Year's Eve 2002 under the name it carries now. It holds 320, which for a city this size is the difference between touring bands stopping here and driving past.
Good draught range at fair prices, and it opens to what's on rather than to fixed hours.
