Spanish-leaning food and drink on Lowther Street, and the building has a better story than the bar's age suggests.

Numbers 15 and 17 form the entrance block to the Lowther Arcade, built in 1904 for the Carlisle Old Brewery Company to a design by the Carlisle architect Henry Higginson. It's Grade II listed, red brick and sandstone, with LOWTHER ARCADE carved above the middle entrance. So a bar built by a brewery company still has a bar in it, 120 years on — just not the brewery's.

The street is older than anything on it. Lowther Street follows roughly the line of Carlisle's eastern city wall, pulled down in 1811.

Thursday to Sunday, with evening food and live singers. Loud enough on a Sunday afternoon that at least one neighbour has written to complain about it.
