An underground club, literally: it was below stairs at 10-14 Lowther Street, under the pavements, in the cellars of an old Victorian building, and by common account had one of the strangest layouts of any club in the city, multi-room and rabbit-warren-like, low-ceilinged and always packed. It ran for about fifteen years, from the mid two thousands, and was the student night out for the University of Cumbria; freshers' week is the trade a small-city club lives on.

Its gimmick was Teapot Tuesdays: bring your own teapot and you got in free, or near enough, and the cocktails came out of teapots with a little straw in the spout. The music was bouncy dance and indie. It stopped trading on 11 May 2019. The cellars did not stay empty long: the Underground opened in them on 3 December 2021, its owner saying openly that he meant to build on the name Concrete had.
