Placed on Fisher Street from the position of pubs still standing there. Somewhere on this street, not this doorway

In the local directories to 1837 under this name, and per a separately-held pub database trading from before 1820. Renamed the Star Inn in 1844, a name it kept until 1867 -- longer under its second name than its first. A genuinely separate pub from the other two Saddle Inns this archive holds, on Botchergate and at Willow Holme. A separate headword on the encyclopaedia's own next page, for a plain "Star, Fisher Street," gives an independent primary-source date window for this same building under its later name -- 1844 to 1861 -- sitting comfortably inside the 1844-67 range already given for the rename.
