On Fisher Street from before 1820, and in the local directories under this name until 1837. Parson and White's directory of 1829 names Daniel Sim as its keeper. It shares only its sign with the Saddle Inns on Botchergate and at Willowholme.
It was renamed the Star Inn in 1844 and kept that name until 1866, longer than it had been the Saddle; the directories list a Star on Fisher Street between 1844 and 1861. The Carlisle Cross Inn is given the same address, 30 Fisher Street, in the 1840s, and the Cumberland News of 12 July 1991 thought the Star took that name for a while and then went back to being the Star. Nothing settles whether that is one house or two.
As the Star it was advertised to let in October 1864, with William Harrison as the outgoing tenant, and it had gone by August 1866, when the Chief Constable reported that the Star, Fisher Street, had been 'done away with' as a public house and made into a shop.
