The newest name in the plaza, and only the newest name — the licence for this unit runs back to 2005 and has been through a long string of holders, transfers and supervisors since. It passed to the current operator in June 2026.
The licence permits nine in the morning to four the next, seven days a week, which is a good deal more than it advertises. It's built for a nightclub even when it's presenting as a bar.
Along with Ballers, Deja Vu and Rouge, that makes four separate licensed units in one small complex — with the council's records also carrying Truth, Alien, Terminal, Las Vegas and the Church against other units. Englishgate Plaza is the clearest example in Carlisle of a building that stays a nightlife destination while every business inside it changes.
