Three names in three years, on the ground floor of the old Walkabout building at the top of Botchergate. Stonegate rebranded the Walkabout as Ularoo on 21 October 2025, a blend of Uluru and kangaroo that kept the outback theme while shedding a tired brand name. It did not last a year. Football fans arriving to watch England against Ghana on 23 June 2026 found it shut, and a Stonegate leasehold listing went up afterwards advertising the two-floor venue for a new publican, with no formal announcement.

It is open again and trading as Headquarters. The premises licence passed to a new holder, The Unit Branch Ltd, from 25 August 2026, and the council's register now names the premises The HQ Headquarters. The gambling register still carries the gaming machine notification served on 31 October 2025 by Ularoojp Ltd, which suggests the Ularoo operation was a separate company rather than Stonegate direct. Upstairs is a different business, and has been through all of this: Felson's kept trading while the ground floor went dark and came back under a new name.

No heritage here. It is a modern unit in the Englishgate Plaza development, in the same complex as Deja Vu, Ballers, Rouge and the Unit; six of this site's venues are in that one block, counting this.

It is worth recording precisely because of the churn. A chain rebrands a venue, the rebrand fails inside a year, the doors shut without a word, and it reopens under a third name. Compare the Cumberland Inn a few hundred yards down the same street, Redfern's of 1930, still carrying the name it opened with. That is the shape of Botchergate: the modern end changes its name every other year, the old end does not.
