One of two Duke's Head pubs traced in this archive -- the other on Scotch Street, dated to 1746. This Corporation Road house is in local directories from 1869 to 1902 or 1903. The Cumberland News ran an illustrated retrospective on it on 24 April 1992, the same feature that covered the nearby Crown Inn on the same road.
