Placed on Corporation Road from the position of pubs still standing there. Somewhere on this street, not this doorway

Bernard Roner, 53, is recorded as innkeeper of no. 5 Corporation Road in the 1861 census. The Carlisle Journal advertised it for sale on 9 May 1884, then occupied by John Burns. In local directories from 1855 to 1914. The Cumberland News ran an illustrated retrospective on it on 24 April 1992. Not to be confused with the several other Crown Inns this archive holds -- at Henry Street/Warwick Road, at Stanwix, and the separate Crown and Mitre and Crown and Thistle houses.
