- Where exactly
- Placed from the Ordnance Survey grid reference, NY4008755979, in Historic England's gazetteer of the scheme's premises. The building's use in 2018: commercial.
A spirit vaults on St Alban's Row, in an early to mid-eighteenth century building. The scheme took only the lease, in September 1916 (the Cumberland News lists the St Alban's Spirit Stores among the premises acquired in the week to 9 September), and closed it in 1922. It was a different house from the Hole in the Wall and the Old Queens Head on the same short row, all three a few steps from the Market Cross.
Its trade suited the Board's plans: the general manager's report of 1 November 1916 lists the St Alban's Row Vaults among only seventeen places in the city left to sell bottles of spirits over the counter.
