Known from a single citation: an 1861 advertisement for Morris, Harrison and Co gives the hotel as "established 1853, Rennie late Duncan's" -- implying it was set up under a Duncan in 1853 and had passed to a landlord named Rennie by the time the ad ran. Nothing else about it has surfaced.
