Placed on the Henry Street stretch of Warwick Road from the position of pubs still standing there. Somewhere on this street, not this doorway

On Henry Street, the older name for this stretch of what is now Warwick Road. Thomas Hilton, 60 and born at Kirkby Thore, is the innkeeper of the 1901 census. The Evening News and Star reported its closure on 2 November 1916, and the Cumberland News ran an illustrated retrospective on 6 March 1992. Not to be confused with the several other Crown Inns this archive holds -- at Corporation Road, at Stanwix, and the separate Crown and Mitre and Crown and Thistle houses.
