One of the newest places in the city, and a shop rather than a pub before it. Gibby's describes itself as a home for artisan charcuterie, cheeses, seasonal sharing plates and carefully chosen wines, which puts it closer to a wine bar with a counter than to anything on the traditional end of this directory.

The unit was House of Malt, an independent whisky and spirits merchant that traded here for about a decade. Its closure was not a quiet retirement. Iridium Supplies Limited, the Carlisle company behind the shop, passed a resolution to wind up in June 2026 and went into creditors' voluntary liquidation with Begbies Traynor appointed, owing more than half a million pounds. Filed accounts to July 2025 show net liabilities of around £483,000. The Warwick Road shop shut its doors to customers, but the House of Malt name carried on as an online business after Imbivium Ltd bought it in June 2026. So the brand survived and the shopfront did not, and a wine bar has the keys within a couple of months.

It sits in the short run of Warwick Road that has quietly become the city's newest drinking cluster. Yellowjacket is next door at 46, and the Halston is a few doors down in the old General Post Office, with The Andalusian at the bottom of the same street. None of them is an old pub, and none was built to be one.

Nothing is known yet about who runs it or where the name comes from.
