Owned by Jane Allen, also recorded as Jane Allan, who advertised it to let in the Carlisle Journal three times over a decade: 18 February 1848, 4 January 1856 and 6 February 1857. The Carlisle Journal of 8 October 1858 records the sale of a house at Kingstown formerly the beerhouse called the Cross Keys, and the Carlisle Patriot advertised it to let again as a beerhouse on 21 September 1861. Thomas Muir, 56 and born in Scotland, is the innkeeper of the 1891 census. Not to be confused with the separate Cross Keys this archive already holds on English Street.
