34 Finkle Street

Known as the Woodman from around 1806 before being renamed the Rose and Castle by the 1820s, and trading under that sign at 34 Finkle Street into the mid-1870s. It's marked by name on the 1865 Ordnance Survey map and turns up in the trade directories through to 1876; a separately-held Carlisle pub database gives an almost identical 1877 closing year.
