Traded as the Weavers Arms from 1837 before being renamed the Lorne Arms in 1878. The 1902 photograph in Carlisle: The Archive Photographs shows the tenant then as John Skelton, and the building was still being described as "formerly known as Lorne Arms" when the property was sold in 1924, some years after the pub itself had closed in 1917. Not the other Weavers Arms this archive holds, on John Street, which has its own separate naming chain into the Sportsman's Arms and then the Bricklayers Arms.
