History
Longtown's social club, on Swan Street a short walk from the Tavern and the Graham Arms, the third licensed venue in the town on this site. Parties and functions, and well liked for the prices.
It holds a club premises certificate rather than a premises licence, which is the difference between a members' club and a pub: the bar serves members and their guests, the committee runs it, and there is no licensee in the pub sense. Certificate CP002, one of the first numbers issued when the old registrations were converted under the 2003 Act, has run since 24 November 2005 with no variation, transfer or surrender recorded against it in twenty years. For a club, that steady blank is the good sign.
Beyond the certificate the written record is nearly bare. CAMRA last surveyed it in July 2010 and lists no cask ale, no website and no hours. No opening times are published anywhere. The phone number is the one thing every directory agrees on.
