History

Brunton Park holds nearly eighteen thousand and has been described by visiting fans as one of football's true outposts: old-school and well kept, at a club that has spent most of its history outside the top divisions, with one season in the old First Division in 1974-75.

For a drink there are two answers, and it matters which one you want. The Fan Zone sits outside the stadium and is open to anyone, on match days, for some away games shown on screen, and for big televised games. It is usually free, though the club charged £2 a ticket for its World Cup screenings in June 2026. The bars inside the ground are a different proposition. Those need a match day ticket, because you have to be through the turnstiles to reach them.

So on a Saturday this address is simultaneously one of the most open venues on this site and one of the most closed, depending on which side of the wall you are standing. The matchday trade spills across the road to the Beehive and the rugby club, both of which build their week around the fixture list.
