Lost pub ยท Main Street, Brampton
The Highland Laddie
- Gone
- Closed during the Second World War
- There now
- Unknown
- Where exactly
- On Main Street, Brampton. The exact spot isn't known, so the pin marks the town centre, not the building. The position is approximate.
A Brampton inn on Main Street going back to the middle of the eighteenth century, by Mike Tuer's records. It became the Spirit Vaults in 1873, also known as Carrick's Vaults, and Carrick & Riddell around 1900, and it finally closed during the Second World War. Another record stops in 1892 and puts it on the Market Place. Not the Highland Laddie at Glasson, which is still trading, or the one at Todhills.

Open question
An unsolved mystery
Where in Brampton was the Highland Laddie, and when did it close? One record puts it on the Market Place and stops in 1892; Mike Tuer's has it on Main Street, trading as Carrick & Riddell until the Second World War.
If you know the answer, or where it might be found (an old photograph, a family story, a document), tell us and it goes into the story above.
