- In Brampton. The exact spot isn't known, so the pin marks the town centre, not the building. The position is approximate.
The George Hotel, earlier the George and Dragon: a coaching inn in Brampton that Mike Tuer's records take back before 1765, becoming the George in 1851. One record places it on the Market Place, and so does Parson and White's directory of 1829, which has the George and Dragon there, kept by Joseph Graham. It was a Brampton Old Brewery house and later belonged to Glasson's Penrith Breweries, and it closed around 1970. Exactly which building it occupied is disputed: Tuer puts it in the white building now occupied by the Sewing Box, while other local contributors to the same discussion named two different buildings.
