An Iredale's house at Allenwood, by Heads Nook, closed by the Board in August 1916 when it took over Iredale's estate. Allenwood had a pub again only half a century later, when the Coach House opened in the paper mill manager's house. It was still trading on 8 July 1916, as the Salutation, Allenwood, a few weeks before the Board shut it. In May 1877 the licence of the public house at Allenwood, formerly kept by Robert Carruthers, passed to Isaac Thirlwall.
