- Where exactly
- On Town Foot, Brampton. The exact spot isn't known, so the pin marks the town centre, not the building. The position is approximate.
At Town Foot in Brampton. It was the Barley Mow before 1817 and was already the Barley Stack by 1833, and it kept that name for more than a century and a half until it closed in 1998. Not the Barley Stack on Rickergate in Carlisle, which gave its name to Barley Stack Lane. In March 1903, when the police objected to every licence in Brampton, it was owned by a Mrs Carrick and kept by Joseph Hope, with only one change of tenant in seventeen years. The police thought it a fair house all round, at the west end of the town, though the rooms were small and old-fashioned.
