- Placed from the Ordnance Survey grid reference, NY4411165357, in Historic England's gazetteer of the scheme's premises, which records it as a pub in 2018.
At Smithfield, near Kirklinton, known as the Robin Hood as early as 1784, and also recorded as the Red House; Parson and White's directory of 1829 puts the two names together, with Jane Batey at the Robin Hood, Red House. The scheme took it in October 1916 and sold it to its tenant in 1973 for £8,500. The doorway of the present red-brick building is carved 'Robin Hood Inn', with dates ending in 1904, probably the year it was rebuilt.
It carried on as the village local beside the A6071, with darts teams and sport on the big screen. It closed in February 2022 and reopened in December 2023, then closed again on 23 November 2024, when CAMRA recorded it as seeking new tenants.
