Its licence was threatened with withdrawal in 1895 but survived another twelve years; John Carrick, born at Cargo, was innkeeper by 1901. A licensing session finally closed it in February 1907. The site's own pub database gives an earlier name for the same address, the Cumberland Wrestlers -- an unrelated, coincidental echo of the much better-documented Cumberland Wrestlers on Currock Street, which this isn't; the wrestling sign was evidently popular enough to be used more than once around the city.
