Talkin's other inn, a few steps from the Blacksmiths Arms, with a history back to the eighteenth century. It was the Greyhound until 1861. CAMRA's Real Ale in Cumbria of 1982 gave it an entry, and it was last in the Good Beer Guide in 1999; the Blacksmiths appears in the guide from 2002. People who drank there remember Les and Joan Stewart running it, and the food. It closed in 2004 and is a holiday cottage now.
In August 1886 the renewal of the licence of the Hare and Hound Inn, Talkin, was put off for a month because the landlord had been convicted during the year under the Licensing Acts.
