One of the pubs that stood in "the Lanes", the tight network of alleys and courts behind Scotch Street that ran down towards the river before postwar clearance. Distinct from The Gleaner, the unplaced pub known only from the 1875 British Workman Institute reference — this one is specifically tied to Old Grapes Lane.
