- In Low Row. The exact spot isn't known, so the pin marks the place, not the building. The position is approximate.
Built as a cattle byre and made into an inn around 1850, in its own grounds off the road through the village, with views over the Bewcastle fells; one record has it trading from 1847. It took its name from the Carlisle to Newcastle line rather than any station of its own, and carried the joke through: the footrest along the bar was a length of rail. The scheme took it in 1917, and it is on the 1920 State Management roll. It closed on 30 April 2012.
