- Placed from the Ordnance Survey grid reference, NY4305941846, in Historic England's gazetteer of the scheme's premises. The building's use in 2018: residential (Smiths’ Arms).
On the Ivegill road towards Hutton Road End, trading before 1828 and through a run of trade names: the Horse & Farrier, the Horse & Blacksmith and the Smiths Arms, before the Marketgate Inn. It was a scheme house: the 1973 sell-off list records a Smiths Arms Inn at Marketgate sold for £7,750. The scheme proposed a new lavatory block for it in 1962 and let it to a tenant in the late 1960s. It closed in 1996, and the building, at Marketgate by Low Braithwaite, is a house now, still called the Smiths' Arms. The Crown at Broadfield is the pub the area kept.
Sold in 1973 as the Smiths Arms Inn, a tenanted house, for £7,750. Who bought the rest
