It began as a cinema. The Cosmo opened on Central Avenue in 1962 and ran until about 1990, then reopened as the Avenue, which closed in 2001 and was demolished a couple of years later. A pub that was a cinema first is not unusual in itself, but the run is unusually short at both ends: thirty years of pictures, ten years of drinking, and gone.
