In the local directories from 1844 to 1848 under this name, before being renamed the Golden Fleece, which a separately-held pub database has trading on into 1858. Willow Holme is the low ground north of Caldewgate between the Caldew and the Eden, which flooded regularly and was given over to industry rather than housing, so a pub there was serving working men rather than a neighbourhood. A genuinely separate pub from two other Carlisle Saddle Inns this archive holds, on Botchergate and on Fisher Street, both gone by the late 1830s.
